'When we hear about the Trump tariff announcement, we shake', EU wine industry lobbyist says

President Donald Trump on Thursday threatened a 200% tariff on European wine, Champagne and spirits if the European Union goes forward with a planned tariff on American whiskey. FRANCE 24's Yinka Oyetade speaks to Dr Ignacio Sánchez Recarte, Secretary General of EU wine industry lobbying group CEEV and interim co-President of FIVS, the international federation of wine and spirits producers. He says that if tariffs go through, EU winemakers may have to shoulder a €5 billion immediate hit, as the US market counts for 27% of EU wine exports.
